Boil the tea leaves in 2 cups of water. Strain and keep it aside.
Add soaked choley, black tea water, salt and some more water in a pressure cooker and cook till choley are done.
Add oil in a kadai/pan. When the oil is hot enough, add the chopped onions and fry till golden brown.
Add tomato, ginger and green chili and fry for another 2 minutes on high heat.
Add the grounded homemade chana masala. Add turmeric powder, mix well and little water, cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the cooked choley along with the water. Cook for 10-12 minutes on medium heat. Stir occasionally.
Adjust salt as required. Add tamarind pulp and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
